UN APCICT hosts Expert Group Meeting on Data-Driven Smart Government

5 January 2018 --The United Nations Asian and Pacific Training Center for ICT for Development (UN APCICT) hosted an Expert Group Meeting on Data-Driven Smart Government (DDSG) on 6-7 December 2017 at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center. The meeting brings together representatives from different ICT ministries and agencies, academia, and research organizations in the region. The main objective of the event is to review the draft academy module made in partnership with the National Information Society Agency of Korea. Best practices on the field were also discussed, and a roadmap will be devised to roll out the module for government officials and civil servants in the Asia and the Pacific.

Sessions discussed in the event were on global trends and practices in data policy, in support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. There were also presentations on different national experiences on DDSG. The main highlight of the meeting is the review of the Draft Academy Module, which aims to introduce DDSG as a major industrial breakthrough, explain the framework for the data life cycle, and discuss success opportunities and roadblocks towards DDSG.
